To allow for free flow of traffic, the Ghana Highways Authority is removing tollbooth off the Tema Motorway.
Since the government stopped collecting road tolls two years ago, the booths have been vacant.
Despite not being used, they clog up the length of road.
Officials from the Ghana Highways Authority were spotted supervising the demolition project on Thursday, September 14, 2023, which was estimated to cost the public GHS1 million.
The structures at either end of the Accra-Tema highway are being brought down by heavy-duty vehicles.
Solar lighting systems will also be installed as part of the project to improve security and safety throughout the route.
