The incident occurred at Drobo Gonasua in the Jaman South District of the Bono region on Tuesday, October 7, 2023.
In an interview with Odiasempa Kofi Boadi on ATUMPAN’s program, the Assemblymember of the Area, Hon. Sekaih Richard, said the deceased, a 65-year-old Maame Abena Nketiah, was discovered dead in her backyard garden with her body in a state of decomposing.
He said the deceased had gone missing for three days.
Hon. Sekaih, explaining how the incident happened, said the suspect was left with the deceased in the house on that fateful day after his siblings had left for school.
The suspect, according to him, informed his siblings that the deceased had traveled to Faaman (a suburb in the same municipality) when they asked the whereabouts of the grandmother.
Hon. Sekaih added that the children of the deceased, when contacted about whether or not their mother had returned to Faaman as claimed by the suspect, responded negatively.
A search was conducted by the community members together with some relatives of the deceased.
The lifeless body of the deceased was discovered in her backyard garden.
The body of the deceased has been deposited in the hospital morgue, while an investigation into the incident has begun by the police.
Information gathered by BoadiNews.com indicates that the suspect had allegedly confessed to the Police of killing the old woman by hitting the head with a club after she had refused to give him a requested amount of money.
