MoMo vendor commits suicide over GHC15K debt

30-year-old mobile money vendor Francis Larbie has committed suicide by hanging over GHC15,000 in debt at Awutu Bawjiase in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region.

Information gathered by BoadiNews.com indicates that fraudsters defrauded the deceased GHC 15,000, and his employer ordered him to refund the money.

A police source says that yesterday around 6:00 p.m., employer of the deceased came to the deceased office for discussion on how he could pay the money.

A source close to the Bawjiase District Police Command says that during the conversation, the victim asked for permission to go to his house, thinking that he was going to bring some of the money to reduce the debt.

The owner of Mobile Money told police that, after 30 minutes, the victim, who is now deceased failed to return, so he started calling his number.

He said after several calls, the deceased failed to respond to his call, so he rushed to his house to find out why he had kept waiting so long and also failed to pick up his falls.

The police say that when the boss entered his room, he saw the victim hanging.

He then called for police to rescue him, but he was dead before he entered his room.

The body has been conveyed by the Awutu Bawjiase Police to Agona Swedru Mortuary while investigations are ongoing.
