A 32-year-old illegal miner has met his untimely death.
This was after a galamsey pit had collapsed on him at Denkyira Meretweso in the Upper Denkyira East District of the Central region.
The occurrence occurred on Monday January 8, 2024.
Other miners who got harmed in the process are being treated at the Meretweso Chips ready to be moved to Dunkwa Government Emergency clinic.
Confirming the sad incident on Solar FM’s Atumpan program, the Unit Committee member of the area told Odiasempa Kofi Boadi that after deceased, a 32-year-old man, together with his colleagues went for mining.
According to Chairman Donkor, the other miners attempted to recue the deceased from the collapsed pit but they were unsuccessful.
He said, the illegal miner was discovered dead when he was retrieved from the pit after some residents of the area intervene in the rescue mission.
The body has been deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation.
