C/R: Upper Denkyira East NDC Accuses MP, MCE of Cutting,Selling Railway Lines(Audio)

The Upper Denkyira East branch of NDC has accused both Member of Parliament and the Municipal Chief Executive of cutting and selling the railway lines in the Municipality.

Addressing the media during a press conference on Tuesday, the Constituency Deputy Communication Director of the NDC, Nana Ampadu accused Dr. Festus Awuah Kwoffie(MP) together with Hon Ebenezer Forson Appiah of being behind the ongoing removal or cutting of the Railway Lines on the Offin river that connect Dunkwa and Obuasi and Dunkwa to Tarkwa.

He called on the traditional leaders within Dunkwa to resist any attempt by the MP and the MCE to sell the railway lines.

Failure on the part of Nananom to rise against the act, Nana Ampadu said the youth of the community will rise and prevent them from cutting and selling- off the Railway Lines.

“….. all the railway lines have been removed and this is the only railway line left in this Municipality. We believe the MCE and the MP are behind the removal because they have done some before. They sold out the initial removed railway lines”, Nana Ampadu alleged during the press conference.

MCE DENIALĀ 

Meanwhile the Municipal Chief Executive of Upper Denkyira East Hon Ebenezer Forson Appiah has denied the allegations levelled by the NDC in the Upper Denkyira East constituency.

Reacting to the allegation, the MCE provided an official documents and letters from the Ghana Railways Development Company Limited(GRDCL) on the removal of the desolate Railway Lines in the Municipality.

According to him, the documents from the GRDCL was officially to inform him of the decision to remove the desolate Railway Lines.

Hon. Ebenezer Forson Appiah described the press conference by the NDC as bogus.

GHANA RAILWAYS DEVELOPMENT COMPANY LIMITED (GRDCL) REACTION

The Ghana Railway Development Company Limited has revealedĀ  they sanctioned the removal of the desolate Railway Lines in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality.

Reacting the allegation by the NDC on Solar FM’s Solar Breakfast Show, the PRO of GRDCL, Randy Mould said the removal of the desolate Railway Lines is nationwide activity to pave way for the construction of an new one.

He confirmed to the host of the Program, Odiasempa Kofi Boadi the official documents written by his outfit towards the removal of the desolate Railway Lines.

Mr. Mould vindicated both the MP together with the MCE.
